FLASH-POINT BLOGGER: DENHAM
About Denham
Greetings,
My role is to manage the FP web site and assist with marketing wheels for the Flash-Point brand. It has been an interesting 'ride'. Starting from a vision, we have experimented, played, failed and worked our way to a solution better than what we dreamed at the beginning.
Meeting customer expectations, gathering feedback, fixing daily issues, matching market movements and making sure it all comes together, is what I do each day. My intention is to provide you with a glimpse of what happens before the wheels hit the road - how we make them and why we do things to ensure you get a great product and an even better ride.

We have updated the dealer lists. Since this was done last, we have added a large number of demo dealers and have been shipping FP80's to supplement their FP60 wheel sets.
If you find Zipp dealer that does not have a Flash-Point wheel set in their demo lineup please ask them to call their Zipp inside rep at 1-800-230-2387 to arrange for a set.

Over the last two weeks we have caught up on the large backlog of FP 80 orders and new orders are shipping within a few weeks.
The more observant will have noticed we have switched from a continuous wrap to segments for the FP80. This has been necessary to ensure a consistent symmetrical shape to the side walls.
The FP80 has become a little heavier than anticipated, but this is a small price to pay for a perfect rim.
BTW the latest wind tunnel results show there is a time saving of 10 seconds or 4 watts over 40k with 300 watts output and that these savings are proportional to your riding speed. What this means is the slower you go the more you save as you will be riding for a longer time.
The FP60f + FP80r is proving to be a popular combination giving the aero-advantage. The deeper rear helps with counter steer and balance control in cross-winds. This is counter-intuitive, but logical if you reflect on the influence of the larger surface area and how this 'turns' the front wheel into the wind when you are suddenly exposed to the full force of an irregular cross-wind.
Be sure to give the FP80 a whirl next time you visit a FP demo dealer

Kevin Davis tried a demo set of FP60's and writes:
"I recently did a demo of the new Flashpoint 60's for the Desert Classic Duathlon in Scottsdale, AZ. They were amazing, I put in my fastest bike split yet and the wheel were great on the climbs and fast on the flats. It definitely proved that I needed to be on a set of these this year and will be purchasing them very soon (I think 80's though!). I'm only hoping that I might be able to get those sweet yellow graphics on them, as I had no less then 10 people stop me at the race and tell me how amazing my bike looked with this wheelset on them."
his story has been repeated many times over as riders experience these aero wheels.
