Over the last two weeks we have caught up on the large backlog of FP 80 orders and new orders are shipping within a few weeks.
The more observant will have noticed we have switched from a continuous wrap to segments for the FP80. This has been necessary to ensure a consistent symmetrical shape to the side walls.
The FP80 has become a little heavier than anticipated, but this is a small price to pay for a perfect rim.
BTW the latest wind tunnel results show there is a time saving of 10 seconds or 4 watts over 40k with 300 watts output and that these savings are proportional to your riding speed. What this means is the slower you go the more you save as you will be riding for a longer time.
The FP60f + FP80r is proving to be a popular combination giving the aero-advantage. The deeper rear helps with counter steer and balance control in cross-winds. This is counter-intuitive, but logical if you reflect on the influence of the larger surface area and how this 'turns' the front wheel into the wind when you are suddenly exposed to the full force of an irregular cross-wind.
Be sure to give the FP80 a whirl next time you visit a FP demo dealer
